In Mork Borg, when facing 4 enemies that each deal d4 damage, your table will roll: 
- 4 defense rolls with about 40-60% chance to dodge each time,
- Damage rolls equal to the number of failed defense rolls
- Armor rolls equal to the number of failed defense rolls.
That’s a potential for 12 rolls, an expected 8 rolls, and a strong chance that half of them don’t result in any damage taken, meaning... 

as many as half your rolls are burnin’ daylight

... and that's just one round. 

Additionally, It is instinctual for a GM to have groups split up and   attack different PCs depending on different factors or more rolls. However, when the enemies are minor, the tension is ruined for everyone.
